[edit] Summary

The Earth Defense Force needs you! Planet Earth is under attack from alien invaders and the EDF is the only chance for survival. Earth Defense Force 2017 lands players on the front lines of an onslaught of alien invaders, with non-stop swarms of hundreds of enemies on screen at once. The arcade-style third-person shooter equips players with an arsenal of weapons, vehicles and loyal teammates in order to defeat a wide variety of attackers ranging from giant ants and spiders to robots and monsters standing more than 20 stories tall. Players have more than 150 weapon variations to choose from including assault rifles, rocket launches and flamethrowers and the support of AI-controlled Earth Defense Force teammates who will battle beside them throughout the game—players can also join forces in co-op mode and battle together. With more than 50 missions to complete and a seemingly endless barrage of attackers, the Earth Defense Force has their work cut out for them. Fighting within a wholly destructible environment where bridges, skyscrapers and other structures can just as easily be destroyed by friend or foe, players can either save their world or demolish it in the process.

[edit] Gameplay

Earth Defense Force is an Arcade style over the shoulder third person shooter that pits you against hundreds of B-movie style enemies at a time. The game offers 2-player local co-op, allowing you and a friend to go through the 53 mission Single-player side by side blasting away hoards of aliens and gunships with 2 of 171 different weapons to choose from. The gameplay is extremely addictive and fun, especially in cooperative mode.

[edit] Weapons List

There are 171 different weapons in the game and all but 5 are available for pick-up throughout the levels. The harder the difficulty you play on, the more powerful the weapons dropped will be. Below is a chart of all the weapons in the game along with stats on how damage they do, their ammo capacity, and in which level and difficulty you can find them. Please note, this chart is not 100% accurate and should be used as a general guide for finding weapons. The Drop Info is correct, but Projectile counts and various other stats may be off a bit.

This bonus is a white round box with a red cross on it, it will recover 1/9 of your total health points during combat.

[edit] Triple Health Bonus

A yellow box with 3 red crosses on it, it will recover lost health during combat by 1/3 of your total health points.

[edit] Weapon

[edit] Enemies

[edit] Terror Ants

Terror Ant
Terror Ant

These are the weakest members of The Ravagers' forces, but their strength comes in numbers. They are an advanced biomech technology that has been made to mimic the ecology and bodily structure of giant ants. The Ravagers are able to deploy these anywhere, almost instantly, making for a very effective surprise attack. They can crush their prey with powerful mandibles or spray acid that eats away at its victim's armor and skin. This acidic substance is being analyzed at EDF headquarters. The red Terror Ants are more powerful than their black counterparts because they are able to take far more damage.

[edit] Assault Spiders

Assault Spider
Assault Spider

The Ravagers' Assault Spiders were engineered to be high-flying, silk-spinning death machines. They can leap several city blocks in a single jump and their spinnerets produce a sticky, acidic thread that is easily capable of plucking a jet or helicopter from the sky. The silk thread is also effective against ground units because it slows them down on contact.

[edit] Ravager Gunships

Ravager Gunship

These are the staple of The Ravagers' mechanized forces. These flying nuisances emerge from The Ravagers' giant Quadruped Fortress. While they are not particularly agile, they can maneuver at moderate speeds, giving them an easy way to aim their powerful diffusion lasers at you from above. Once locked on, these laser cannons can rip less-fortunate ground based enemies to pieces. The red Ravager Gunships are far more deadly than their silver counterparts because they deal far more damage and have much thicker armor.

[edit] Walking Arm Hektor

Walking Arm 'Hektor'
Walking Arm 'Hektor'

This giant bipedal robot can lay waste to an entire city from several kilometers away. It is equipped with a pair of lethal arm weapons that come in two varieties. The first is a plasma-based Gatling gun that has an extremely high rate of fire. The second is an artillery arm that is capable of lobbing explosive plasma orbs great distances.

[edit] Flying Saucer

These massive transport ships are often seen hovering ominously over cities where havoc is being unleashed below. Their underside has a hatch that opens to release Terror Ants, Assault Spiders, or even Walking Arms.

[edit] Dino-Mech

A truly awe-inspiring sight. This enormous, dinosaur-like creature has been outfitted with powerful armor that gives it substantial protection from normal weapons. Despite its massive size, this creature can still move with alarming speed. It is capable of destroying massive areas with its fire breath and a devastating smash attack that can level buildings.

[edit] Unknown Creature

While similar in appearance to the Dino-Mech, this unknown creature appears to have been biomechanically altered by The Ravagers. Heavier armor has been added to protect the beast's soft spots and its arms have been removed to make room for two massive laser cutting cannons. Tearing through buildings, bridges, and even the heavily armored E551 Gigantes tank is quick work for this massive creature.
