[edit] Rob Leingang: The Game Counselor
Rob Leingang became a Game Counselor also known as Nintendo Power Agents for Nintendo Power and the Nintendo 1-800 Tip Hotline in October 27th, 1987. Mr. Leingang made his first and last appearance in Nintendo Power 003 Nov - Dec 1988; credited on the staff page for Game Consulting. Ron Leingang was credited along side Senior Editor Howard Phillips and was the only Game Counselor credited from the Counselors Corner despite 8 separate Game Counselors being featured in the section in this issue.
In Nintendo Power 003, Rob Leingang lists his hobbies as "Music, Video Games, and Sports." and claims his highest game score is for Wizards and Warriors at an impressive 965,500 as well as claiming that Wizards and Warriors is his favorite game. Rob Leingang is listed as Agent #015.
Rob Leingang gained a sorts of cult following after appearing in a 1988 Inside Edition Report entitled A New Fad Sweeping The Nation where a young Bill O'Reilly lead into a story about Nintendo and its ability to captivate the minds of youth everywhere, and take you on an adventure "into this world of Danger, Intrigue, and Magic!".
Rob Leingang tells us the secrets to Level 3 dash 1 of Super Mario Bros where we meet the "badest of the bad" of foes, The Hammer Brothers. He also goes on to tell us the secret to scoring the elusive 99 men and "a whole lot of points."
'FUN FACT:' The Inside Edition Report labels and refers to Rob Leingang as Ron Leingang, however Nintendo Power's Staff List and feature in Counselors Corner provides the correct spelling / version of his name.
